The first major innovations for the EA FC 25 Career Mode have been revealed – but there are many more exciting new features in the game, which will officially release on September 27. We look at the new Rush mode in the youth academy, goalkeeper playstyles, and dynamic weather.
There’s a lot of talk about Rush, but what is Rush?
Rush is a mode that will be available in every playable mode in the game. In Rush, you can play in a brand new stadium that, from the outside, is located on an island and looks like a NIKE shoe. Yes, the stadium was designed and created in cooperation with Nike!
In Rush, you play in a five-versus-five mode, which has nothing to do with FIFA Street or VOLTA. You essentially play eleven-versus-eleven but only with five-versus-five. Many are familiar with the term “small field,” which is basically a youth playing field in real football. It often only extends over half of the normal playing field.
However, you also have special rules in this mode:
-> 4 players on the field + 1 goalkeeper
-> There is no official kick-off
-> The goalkeeper is always controlled by AI
-> There are no fixed positions
-> Markings on the field override certain rules
-> The field is divided into 3 thirds
-> Suspensions are given with a “Blue Card” and the player must wait 1 minute outside
The ball is shot into the field from the side by a machine, and you must try to get it first. The AI fully controls the opposing team and your goalkeeper. Use all players everywhere to see where they perform best (attack or defense).
In the middle third, for example, there is no offside. Only when all opposing or your players are in the respective attacking thirds is there offside. You are normally suspended after 2 yellow cards or a hard foul, but with a blue card.
The player must then go to the sideline and wait there for 1 minute. This minute is displayed on a scoreboard in the middle of the screen and counts down normally. After that, he can return to the field.
The game lasts 7 minutes, and that’s 7 real minutes. In Career Mode, you have this in tournament form. Depending on how well you perform there with the youth players, the better your youth players will develop.

The new Rush mode on the small field is playable online and integrated into Career Mode for youth players.
What’s new: Playstyle and Playstyle + for goalkeepers
There’s a change: With Playstyles for goalkeepers, you can stand even more stable at the back and prevent the opponent’s scoring chances. New in one-on-one defense and footwork. However, some on X criticize that the control ability for goalkeepers
The tackles have been changed
As we explained with the Frostbite engine, there are also new tackles. Hard tackling is now a new thing that gives you the opportunity to send the player straight to the ground without detours. Consequently, it directly results in a yellow card.
But not only that, there’s also the possibility to pull on the jersey again with R1+X/RB+A and thus stop the fast player. Tactical fouls are also possible to disturb the players and slow down the attack, throwing the opponent off balance.

Dynamic weather
After we’ve already confirmed “Dynamic Lighting,” now comes “Dynamic Weather.” The dynamics of lighting conditions was often something that was desired, and dynamic weather was always a hot topic of discussion. Now it will finally be in the game.
You can thus start with dry weather, and during the game, it can start to rain. Or you start in bright conditions and end the game in darkness. But not only that. We described yesterday in a post that weather conditions affect your players and the ball.
In rain, the ball can slow down when rolling or speed up when bouncing. But also in snow, your players can slip and not execute the start as planned.
