The EA FC 24 career mode has brought us a number of changes. X-user RaatjeFC had the good idea of taking stock of how these features have worked out. I’m happy to take this up – and add my own comments.
Dynamic moments (7/10)
New scenes such as the Ballon d’Or award ceremony and victory parade have been added
This is rated positively by RaatjeFC, but the Ballon d’Or scene rarely appears due to the logic of the game. In fact, you have to have a player of the century and a bit of luck to see the cutscene. Nevertheless: a real step forward, especially in long-term careers.
Training plans (6/10):
Increase the level of difficulty as they need to be carefully thought through, training that is too hard makes players tired, training that is too easy lacks bite.
Frequent e-mail notifications are perceived as annoying, writes RaetjeFC. And you can actually cheat your way through by training a little harder in preparation and then playing a balanced game during the season. There would still be room for improvement.
Reports before the game (8/10):
Show the opponent’s lineup, which partially replaces the removed pre-game lineup cutscenes.
But it’s just a reintroduced feature from previous versions. Nevertheless – I think it’s good that you can study your opponent’s strengths, line-ups and tactics. An El Dorado for tactical foxes. Negative: Shirt changes are awkwardly hidden in the menu.
Coaches (6/10):
Shorten the time for player development plans and improve player statistics
Criticised for improving players too much. In fact, they develop even faster and become overpowered. But: shortens the time if you are not aiming for 200 hours of play.

Tactical view (2/10):
Allows a sideline perspective for a more realistic managerial feel.
Criticised for poor implementation as the manager often blocks the view. And quickly becomes boring, you see too little of the game.
Game philosophy (3/10):
Offers more options and improved visuals to quickly set up basic strategy at the start of a career.
Raetje rates this as a minimal improvement to an existing feature. I find it good and clear for beginners, continues with the trainer system, which must fit the system, but this is not really mandatory.
Match Ready Training (0/10):
Criticised by RaetjeFC as time consuming and inflexible as players can’t be changed. I have put it aside completely, the exercises are difficult, bring little and the playstyles are overpoewered.
Tactical scouting (0/10)
Rated useless by RaatjeFC as it has no noticeable impact. In fact, I have never used it, the tactical alignment of the players plays no role whatsoever in the game.Overall, RatjeFC rates the new features of the FC24 Career Mode with 3/10 points and describes this rating as “generous”. The criticism is mainly directed at the fact that many new features are either minimal or only slightly improve existing functions without offering substantial improvements to the gaming experience.
I see it a little more positively – the video scenes are great, the pre-game reports help – but of course EA would have to offer far more than these merely cosmetic improvements to the career mode.
